Wow ! What a break it has been ... ✨️ Can't believe it, two whole years.  A lot has happened though, I've passed high-school with a really decent score, selected my future stream and am a really busy student right now.  How come you are here then ? You might say ... Well, I stumbled upon my long lost buddy yesterday and I thought why not take out time to just update my life happenings here ... even if I'm not exactly exploring birds right now 😆 cause I have a lot of time for that in my future days.  So, I have made this target, to write this blog every once in a fortnight 😊 Currently, I'm busy wih my half yearly examinations of Sophomore year and side by side, adjusting to an awesome school I joined recently.  Also, just for reference, all the photos I use here are taken by myself sometimes or other. The best is yet to come, Aady

Hello Again, World ... !

So, after almost I guess 6 months, I'll probably be returning with new pictures, videos and facts. I was super busy with life and student stuff, but my vacations are soon APPROACHING!!! That means I'll keep updating this blog whenever I get time and I'd love to know if you like it. I'm very excited and I hope everyone is doing good and well in their spirits.  Aady

Water Birds : Part 3 !!!

Image
Hey Everyone ! I am back again wih a new bird, (err, I guess apparently it's not ☺!) this week . Though it is not exactly a water bird, I chose to write about it as I have been sighting it frequently around the stream near my residential area these days . 1.PURPLE - RUMPED SUNBIRD The purple sunbird is   a small bird in the su nbird  family found mainly in South and Southeast Asia. Like other sunbirds they feed mainly on nectar and sometimes on insects. They might look like hummingbirds, but have distinctive features ... so don't be confused amongst both of them. The male is glossy metallic bluish to purplish   black on the upper parts with the wings appearing dark brown. The breeding male also has underparts of the same purplish black, but non-breeding males may show a central streak of black on yellow underparts. Females are olive brown above with a yellowish underside. There is a pale supercilium beyond the eye. There is a darkish eye stripe. The throat and breast are yell

So good to be back again ! Here are we in the second week of my water bird tours . There are many birds visiting this area recently with one more new addition in the form of the western yellow wagtail which I spotted for the first time here. This time the birds I will be talking about are : 1. I ndian Pond Heron The  Indian pond heron  or  paddybird   is a small  heron . It is of  Old World  origins, breeding in southern  Iran  and east to the  Indian subcontinent ,  Burma , and  Sri Lanka . They are widespread and common but can be easily missed when they stalk prey at the edge of small water-bodies or even when they roost close to human habitations. Their camouflage is so excellent that they can be approached closely before they take to flight. They appear stocky with a short neck, short thick bill and buff-brown back. They are very common in India, and are usually solitary foragers, but numbers of them may sometimes feed in close proximity during the dry seasons  when small wetlands

Birds Of Bareilly : Water Birds ... Part 1 !!!

Image
Hey There !!!  As I have mentioned earlier, there is a stream flowing near my residential area and believe it or not, it's an actual birder's paradise ! There are lots of birds which come to this stream in search of food, water and other needs like their homes. This lists includes grassland birds, water birds, scavengers and other types of aves species.  This week, I have done some reasearch on a few frequent water birds which I spotted in the last few days and am ecsatatic to share it with you all ... 1. Great Egret    This is a large, widely distributed  egret , found in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe. Distributed across most of the  t ropical  and warmer  t emperate  regions of the world, it builds tree nests  close to water.  It is a large heron with all-white  plumage .  Apart from size, this large egeret can be distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow  bill  and black legs and feet, though the bill may become darker and the lower legs lighter in the bre

BACK AGAIN !!!

Hello There ! I AM BACK AGAIN ! Guess after nearly one year of no birding at all .... 😅 Today, actually I had a kind of awakening about this and I find that birds are coming out from there nests more often these days, as I have noticed. So, from today I am beginning on a new journey (apparently, again, LOL!). So let's see what all the flora and fauna of Bareilly has in store for all of us this winter !!!

The most interesting: The nesting period of birds

In the whole of India or..... at least in Bareilly ,the nesting season of birds has almost finished. It's fun watching birds lay their eggs ,and chicks hatching from those. In my locality,I had fun in observing many common species of birds nesting.Initially ,I found it odd to find every species in pairs. After some research from my trusted birding side EBird  I found that it was their nesting season. Following is a video I shooted of a common Moorhen making its nest.................

THR BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF A TEENAGER

For me,as a teenager of 13 yea rs, bird and animal photographing is a great hobby.I began bird photographing on an age of 11 years and now,in these days of  covid lockdown , I am enjoying it a lot.Everyday, I get up at nearly 6 am and just take a short locality walk.I am surprised to see ,due to the less pollution, the visibility of birds have increased a lot.I live in  Bareilly , a town loacted in Uttar pradesh,India.Unlike in heart of the city ,where urbanisation is much more, my residence is in Mahanagar colony which is on my town's outskirts .This semi-urban setting is a great benefit for my interest. There is also a river nearby namely Nakatiya nadi ,which is a great a good source of attraction for water birds. In addition to this ,our colony is a green colony,it has many trees .Because of this reason too many birds come here. In this blog, I will be sharing my experience with you all. I hope you'll enjoy it . Hope
